Anuruddha Rathnayaka (51 kg - fly weight)
A member of the Slimline Boxing club, Rathnayake was born in 1975 and educated at Peradeniya Central College. His 1st major event was the 1987 Stubs Shield (National School Games) and then on excelled in 1993 to be selected for the national team. Rathnayake then won Silver at the 1995 SAF Games has consistently performed at the SAF games winning 3 silver medals at this event to date. He returned to the sport after a two year lay off in September 2007 & struck with immediate success when he knocked out his Tanzanian opponent at the historic Sri Lanka vs Tanzania Dual Championship held in Colombo.
Building on this success, Rathnayake went on to greater heights by qualifying for the Beijing Olympics in 2008 by ranking among the top 8 in the world at the AIBA World Championships held in Chicago in October 2007. He is the first Sri Lankan boxer to qualify for the Olympics after a lapse of 40 years & he remains Sri Lanka’s best medal prospect in Beijing this year.

M. D. K. Wanniarachchi (54Kgs / Bantam Weight)
A member of the Slimline Boxing Club, Manju Wanniarachchi was born in 1980 and educated at Vidyartha College, Kandy. He took to boxing in 1991 representing his school at the Stubb Shield Inter School Boxing Meet and holds the Sri Lankan record of being the uncontested winner from 1991 to 1998 of the same. He was also a Junior school boxing champion during this period and won the Best Boxer’s Trophy at the Junior School Boxing Championships in 1998.
He has been unbeaten in his weight category to date, since 1999, winning each & every local tournament; namely the Layton cup, Clifford Cup and National Cup Championships.

A.K.G. Kamal Sameera (57Kgs / Feather Weight)
A member of the Slimline Boxing Club, Kamal Sameera has many successes to his name, despite his tender age of 23. A product of Sivali Central College, Ratnapura, he has represented his school in boxing, winning many tournaments including the T.B. Jayah Memorial Cup, the Stubs Shield (National School Games), the Layton Cup, Clifford Cup and the National Cup.

T.M.C. Tennekoon (48Kgs / Light Fly Weight)
A member of the Sri Lanka Army Boxing Club, 23 year old Tennekon was educated at Jayanthi Central College. He started his boxing career after joining the Sri Lanka Army, and taking part in the Inter Regimental Meet. He boxed for the Army at the Novices Boxing Championships & went on to be the winner of the 2004 Army Novices & ABA Novices Championships.

S.I. Kumara (69 Kgs / Welter Weight)
A member of the Slimline Boxing Club, 25 year old S. I. Kumara was educated at Vidyartha College Kandy. He was selected as the Best Boxer, at the T.B. Jayah Trohphy in 1993, the year in which he went on to win the Stubbs & Junior National Championships. He was also the Junior National Boxing Gold medalist for 1994 / 95 / 96 and the Stubbs Shield winner for the same period.

Anusha Kodithuwakku (48kg – light fly weight)
A member of the Slimline Boxing & Rugby clubs, Anusha Kodituwakku at 27 is the captain of the Sri Lanka Women's Boxing Team. Anusha represented the 2nd Asian Women's Championships as her first entry into Boxing and won the Bronze medal. In the same year she represented the Sri Lankan Rugby Team as well.

Nilmini Jayasinghe (50kg - fly weight)
A member of the Slimline Boxing Club, Nilmini Jayasinghe 26, and was educated at Sandalanka Central College. She took to boxing in 2002 representing Sri Lanka at the world championships. She has a Bronze medal at the Vietnam Boxing Tournament and a gold at the MAS Holdings Boxing Cup in 2006.
